Former Vice Mayor Fatally Shot in Ambush in Sultan Kudarat

A former vice mayor of Radjah Buayan town in Maguindanao del Sur, identified as Sittie Jinn Utto Lumenda, was killed in an ambush in Lambayong town, Sultan Kudarat province, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports received by Brig. Gen. Jimili L. Macaraeg, the director of the Police Regional Office-12, Lumenda was fatally shot multiple times and died at the scene.
The incident occurred while Lumenda was driving a white pick-up truck along a secluded section of a highway in Lambayong, en route to the town proper of Radjah Buayan. Gunmen positioned along the route opened fire on her vehicle.
Lumenda’s father, who was seated in the front passenger’s seat, sustained injuries in the attack, as confirmed by local authorities.
The assailants managed to flee before responding police officers and barangay tanods could arrive at the scene.
In response to the incident, Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, the director of the Bangsamoro regional police, has instructed the Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police Office to deploy intelligence agents to support the Lambayong Municipal Police Station in conducting a thorough investigation.
