State seismologists reported that Mayon Volcano experienced five volcanic earthquakes and 361 rockfall events between 5:00 a.m. on July 13 and 5:00 a.m. on July 14.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) released its latest bulletin, stating that within the past 24 hours, there were seven pyroclastic density currents (PDC) resulting from the collapse of a dome and lava front.

Pyroclastic density currents refer to the rapid movement of volcanic fragments, hot gases, and ash down the slopes or outward from a vent at high speeds.

In the previous 24-hour monitoring period, Mayon recorded 10 PDC, three volcanic earthquakes, and 286 rockfall events.

Phivolcs raised the alert level for Mayon Volcano to level 3 on June 8. Officials anticipate that the volcano’s unrest may persist for several months.
