Much has been discussed about the Mitsubishi Delica Mini—a model we eagerly wish to see offered beyond the borders of Japan. Our fascination with this car reached new heights when we had the opportunity to witness it firsthand at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

At Sun Times Philippines, we aren’t the sole enthusiasts captivated by the charm of the petite Mitsu.

Even the discerning judges of the Japan Car of the Year succumbed to the allure of the Delica Mini. Unlike us, the panel conducted a thorough examination of the car, concluding that it possessed a substantial blend of style and substance.

Regrettably, the Delica Mini did not clinch the coveted overall award, which was bestowed upon the fifth-generation Toyota Prius. It also missed securing a podium spot, as the BMW X1 and Honda ZR-V claimed those honors.

Nevertheless, the Delica Mini did not leave empty-handed, securing the prestigious Design of the Year 2023-2024 award.

One might describe it as aggressively adorable, but the Delica Mini’s triumph in the design category is not solely attributable to its charming aesthetics.

The judging panel commended its deviation from the typical Mitsubishi models of recent years. A quick comparison with the likes of the Eclipse Cross, Outlander, Delica D:5, and even the Triton illustrates why the judges singled out the Delica Mini for its distinctive design.
