Managing solid waste is everyone’s responsibility. We live in a beautiful world. We must protect, preserve, and conserve our environment.

The Coloran Integrated School implemented a Solid Waste Management Program in the school to eliminate waste materials that are harmful to human health as well as to our environment. Uncollected wastes are harmful to children.

The school instills knowledge on promoting solid waste management to transform learners to practice proper solid waste disposal in school, at home, and in the community as well. It encourages everyone to adopt positive waste management practices which in turn may also promote personal hygiene and a healthy environment.

The SELG adviser convenes the SELG officer to talk to them regarding the issue. They were task to promote segregation and lead the campaign for proper solid waste management.

They were grouped into five in collecting and disposing of garbage daily. They were instructed to segregate it into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable. The school provided a trash bin for the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) where to place the collected materials.

To sustain the program up to the present, grade-level advisers are obliged to implement the program strictly and manage the learners in the school premises. Everybody worked hand-in-hand to achieve the goal of the school with regard to proper waste management.
