Cotabato Government Gets High Rating on Electricity Conservation

KIDAPAWAN CITY – The provincial government of Cotabato got a 98 percent efficiency rating in an electricity conservation survey on Friday by the Department of Energy (DoE) under the Government Energy Management Program.
The on-site audit by officials of DOE’s Energy Utilization Management Bureau and representatives from the WestCo Electrical and Equipment Corporation was in compliance with Republic Act No. 11285, or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act.
Genevieve Almonares, DOE’s energy auditor, led the survey team that inspected the Cotabato Provincial Capitol Complex in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City.
Almonares has confirmed, in a dialogue with officials of the provincial government, that they have provided the Cotabato provincial government a 98 percent rating for its efficiency in use of electricity in all of the offices and other facilities inside the capitol complex.
“We have very strict regulations meant to ensure wise utilization of electricity in our provincial capitol,” Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza, chairperson of the Regional Development Council-12, said.
Almonares said she is happy with the result of their electricity conservation survey in the seat of the provincial government.
The survey was premised on best practices for electricity and fuel conservation parameters set by the DOE and the energy management program they are implementing nationwide, according to Almonares.
Almonares and Nevin Dela Paz, also a DOE energy auditor, turned over to representatives of the provincial governor the result of the survey during a dialogue as closing part of their audit activity in the province. (John Felix Unson)
