Google’s Nearby Share app, previously available as a beta app for Windows 11 in March and originally a tool for Chromebooks, has now been officially released for both Windows 11 and Windows 10 users.

This app enables easy file-sharing between Android devices and Windows PCs.

With Nearby Share, users can effortlessly share files or website links by selecting the option and tapping on the destination PC.

Upon successful transfer, a notification will be received on the computer.

Alternatively, users can drag a file from their Windows desktop to the Nearby Share app, and it will be swiftly transferred to the connected Android smartphone.

In this final version of Nearby Share, Google has introduced a couple of valuable additions.

Firstly, the device notification now shows an image preview, allowing users to verify the correct file being shared.

Secondly, for larger files with longer transfer times, an estimated time to completion is provided, enhancing the user experience.

Overall, Nearby Share is a convenient and efficient feature for Windows 11 and Windows 10 users.

And any initial rough edges should have been ironed out during the beta testing phase.

Google has also worked on improving the app’s speed and stability, leading to a smoother file transfer process.

During the beta phase, the Nearby Share app was already popular, with 1.7 million global installations.

Now that the full version is available, it is expected to gain even more users. For seamless file transfers, users are advised to sign in to their Google accounts on both their PC and phone.
